GENERAL INFORMATION

The Miss Dance Drill Team USA Pageant began in 1967 as a college lab project under the direction of Founder, Dr. Kay Teer Crawford. We celebrate our 45th year as a National Competition in 2012! We are proud to be the originators of the All-Male Dance Team Division, and one of the few organizations that offer a “Mr.” (Solo) Division.

Miss Dance Drill Team USA is the FIRST Dance Drill Team Competition and the ONLY National Competition that culminates in a “Spectacular” Pageant! Our goal is to educate and train students in teamwork and discipline, to promote high morals and standards and a healthy lifestyle and to encourage the exchange of ideas and good will between our competitors.

The Miss Dance Drill Team USA Pageant is for High School competitors wanting to compete with the Nation’s “Best”. Take home memories that will last a lifetime! Our participants learn that they are important not only as individuals, but also as team members. Competitors take pride in their performances knowing that they are recognized as the Nation’s Best! The competition makes all the practice, organization and work worthwhile because this is one of the greatest educational experiences ever!

The “Miss” (Solo) & “Miss Teen” (Solo) competitors must qualify at Regional Competitions in their State to qualify for competition at the National Miss Dance Drill Team USA Pageant. All teams are welcome to enter the Miss Dance Drill Team USA Competition & Pageant without any preliminary qualifying competition.

We also offer: Regional, National & International Elementary & Junior High Competition, Elementary Miss & Junior Miss Dance Drill Team USA/International Competition & Pageant, National Street Dance USA Competition, Clipper Clinic & Halftime Performance and Six Flags Magic Mountain Dance & Dance/Drill Team Competition. Our competitions give all students from High School, Junior High, Elementary and Mascot levels a chance to compete!

COMPETITION INFORMATION

Miss Dance Drill Team USA competition scoring consists basically of the components listed below, but may vary depending on the category entered.

* Routine (40%)
* Execution (30%)
* Showmanship (30%)

Our adjudicators are educators in Dance and Dance Drill, with a high level of professional experience in their field. Many of our judges are professionals in the dance industry or are former professional dance instructors.

“Miss” Soloists & “Miss Teen” Soloists receive a participation certificate and attend a complimentary breakfast or luncheon on their first day of competition. The “Miss” Winner & “Miss Teen” Winner receives a scholarship and beautiful trophy and each member of her Court receives an individual placement trophy.

Qualification for Out of State “Miss” Soloist & “Miss Teen” Soloist competitors for the Miss Dance Drill Team USA Pageant takes place at their individual State Competitions. They may also receive authorization to compete from the Miss Dance Drill Team USA organization only if there is not a local qualifying Pageant in their area or State. Teams do not have to qualify for the National Competition. For further information please contact:

Both Miss California Pageant and the Miss Dance Drill Team USA Pageant now offer a “Best of California” and “Best of USA” Solo Division, for Kindergarten through 12th Grade. This is for anyone wishing to compete as a soloist at grade level.

In Addition To Our California Pageant:

“Elementary” & “Junior” Miss Dance Drill Team USA & International Solo Title
“Best of California” & “Best of USA” (K – 8th grade) Solos, Duet/Trio, Mini, Small, Medium & Large Team Categories.
Open to all: National & International Schools, Independents, Private/Studios, or Community Recreation Programs.

Customized travel packages are available for our National Competition. Information can be obtained through our official travel agency, listed on our application forms.

Entry fees vary for our competitions and are listed on the event applications.
