“Dr. Kay Teer Crawford invented MDDTUSA as the America’s first national dance competition in 1967. She essentially created her own blueprint for an industry that hadn’t even existed yet, and she did it with a fearlessness that will always be remembered as a source of influence and inspiration. Since then competitive dance has experienced a renaissance around the world. Discuss personal aspirations you intend to pursue in the future as a result of your participation in U.S. Nationals and as a representative of your school/studio dance program. What has dance taught you about yourself that you plan to use in your professional journey as you move forward in higher education and/or the dance industry. Finally, how can acheiving your goals be used to acknowledge Dr. Crawford’s legacy among dance industry professionals who may not remember where it all began?” (1500 word limit maximum)
